sit and be still.

Well I get on this blog often to read other blogs and have not felt like posting anything here. I know I am not the only one who often feels like the world is going way faster than I can go. I like to stay busy but I've been thinking a lot about how still I want to be. I just want to sit in the quiet and think about how blessed I am to have a wonderful hardworking husband who has given his life to this house of ours, my 21 month hold baby whom I don't want to be 2 quite yet, the little one in my belly that keeps growing everyday, and all my family who loves and supports this family of mine.

I think often about the fears I have of being a parent and raising kids in this society we live in. The things on t.v., the Internet, and the "things" our society deems important. I pray that God gives me the strength to be the rock I need to be and the example I should be. A child's innocence is something I cherish. Children are such miracles and I am so blessed to be Annie's and little baby H's mommy.

I have not posted in over a month so there is probably no way I can play catch up...so I will soon fill you on all that has happened. I really just wanted to say hello! I'm not lost just trying to figure out how to be the best version of myself for me and my family.

Let's play catch up.

  1. Things have been crazy.
  2. I haven't really taken any pictures of the house.
  3. Except the finishing on the floors- the 1st, 2nd, 3rd bedrooms and hallway are painted and done.
  4. The bathroom in hallway is about done. Ryan refinished our claw foot tub and it looks awesome. He reworked and made our vanity with sink. We lack a mirror above the sink and a light fixture above said mirror because I haven't found one I like. Also we have a toilet in our house now!! And it flushes!!! Go Ryan and Bobs. Thank you. (It was getting kind of crazy jumping in the car and driving 6 miles to our old house for a certain urge...)
  5. The focus is now on the living room/kitchen. The kitchen cabinets have been primed and first coats of oil based on. Let me start by saying my husband is awesome. He is pretty much tackling the kitchen on his own because oil based paint is something you need a little talent to deal with...and I don't have said talent. He has our counter tops glued together (black walnut = going.to.be.awesome.) and our back splash is in (green penny tiles). Oh, I almost forgot about the floors. Ryan got the first round of plywood and old laminate up and a friend of ours worked on the original laminate that had been laid..(original means 1948 = not coming up easy). We are determined to use our original hardwood floors like we are going to have in the rest of the house. I sure home the sander can get all the glue up!
  6. The built-ins and island/bar for the kitchen are in the cabinet shop getting made as we speak. So excited to see how they turned out.
  7. That's about it for now..we have the front porch, the breeze-way, small bathroom and basement to finish. One step at a time!!

I have to say that Ryan is the best carpenter I know. Not being biased. He has made our house look so wonderful and us. I love it and I am so excited for the rest that we have to do. I love you Ryan and all the hard work you are putting forth for Annie and I. You rock my world.

mommy and me.

I took the day off yesterday to hang out with Ms. Annie and it was wonderful. Busy because we had to get the water turned on at new house, go to Lowes, and attempt to get my car fixed but non the less, we were together and it makes me happy.

I love this kid.

Progress. week something..

So I am really not sure what week we are on and apologizes for the silence. The last few weeks have summed up to me stepping on a nail, getting the baseboards off in half the house, rooms painted, stenciled, and carpet up. So it may seem small to have only two rooms done but it is progress in my eyes and that is what keeps me going. Remodeling is fun but it's hard to dream about the day when we will finally enjoy our home together. Due to all the nails, tools, and mess Annie really isn't allowed to be out of arms. Poor gal, she is ready to spread her wings and run around the house.

Annie's stenciled wall! A few mess ups but I am so so happy with the way it turned out!

Weekend 4.

We are moving right along. Ryan has been putting most of his focus on the kitchen in finishing up the electrical and getting the counter tops out. I don't have a picture but Sunday he started putting the sheet rock back up on the ceiling!

This is a BEFORE and CURRENT. You can see that we took two walls down that were separating the kitchen from the living room.

The CURRENT state of the counter tops. Ryan ordered and is going to make our counter tops out of black walnut. I AM SO EXCITED!

And just another shot of the kitchen. Ceiling coming soon..

progress. week 3.

Last weekend was really busy so we didn't get to work on the house but luckily I have a great boss that let me off work on Monday so I was able to get some cleaning, nail pulling, and ceiling scrapping done on the house.

Popcorn ceiling...scrapping this stuff is HARD work! I will probably look up and smile every time I'm in our bathroom and hallway.

Today the windows are getting installed and should be done by Monday! Visually, this is going to make things look really different!
